Barton Joins Strategic Partnerships, Inc. Team
AUSTIN, TX Strategic Partnerships, Inc. (SPI) announces that John Barton, recently retired Deputy Executive Director for the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), has joined the firm's highly skilled team of executive consultants.
Barton brings to the SPI team more than 30 years of engineering and executive experience working in a variety of areas with TxDOT throughout the state. His TxDOT career began as a summer employee with a maintenance crew in North Texas, rising through the ranks to serve as District Engineer for Southeast Texas, and finally ending with his position as the agency's top Engineer and Deputy Executive Director. Barton's broad experience and expertise earned him the respect of his peers in Texas and across the nation. He received numerous state and national awards including the inaugural Governor's Leadership in Transportation Award, the Distinguished Graduate Award from the Texas A&M University Civil Engineering Department, and the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials President's Special Award of Merit.
Barton's experiences and expertise include major transportation program management and execution, innovative and alternative transportation project funding and delivery methods, organizational leadership and change management, transportation policy and regulatory environments, multimodal transportation programs management and the development and implementation of evolving and emerging transportation technologies and solutions. During his tenure at TxDOT, Barton served in many national transportation leadership roles including the Board of Directors of the Intelligent Transportation Society of America, the Board of Directors of the National Operations Center of Excellence, the National Committee on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, the Center for Advancing Transportation Leadership and Safety Advisory Board and on several other national transportation committees.
