Gilmer Gaston
SAN ANTONIO, TX The officers of Pape-Dawson Engineers, Inc., announce the promotion of Gilmer Gaston, P.E. PTOE to Senior Vice President of Transportation. In this role, Gaston will be responsible for management and technical oversight of the firm's transportation services throughout the State of Texas.
Gaston joined Pape-Dawson Engineers in July 2000 and has 27 years of experience in transportation engineering, including the analysis of traffic operations, traffic safety, signal timing, traffic impact, transportation planning, traffic circulation, signal system feasibility and Intelligent Transportation Systems applications. His design experience includes traffic signals, traffic signal interconnect, roadway and intersection signing and pavement markings, construction traffic control plans, roadside improvements, automated high-occupancy vehicle lane systems, automated weight-in-motion stations, and traffic signal systems. Gaston has made continuous and outstanding contributions to the transportation engineering profession.
During his career at Pape-Dawson, Gaston has led many high-profile transportation projects. One of the most innovative projects he developed and managed was the Alamo Regional Mobility Authority U.S. 281 Superstreet. The first of its kind in Texas, the U.S. 281 Superstreet was constructed for under $6 million and saved drivers approximately $19.9 million in the first year of operation, and will save $99 million over 5 years. The project was a Gold Medal Winner in the 2012 American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) Texas Engineering Excellence Awards as the premiere transportation project in Texas. The project advanced to the national level, where it earned a National Recognition Award in the ACEC 2012 Engineering Excellence Awards competition.
