AUSTIN, TX The Texas Water Development Board closed on loans providing financial assistance in the amount of $7.5 million from the State Water Implementation Fund for Texas (SWIFT) program to the Hays Caldwell Public Utility Agency (Hays, Caldwell, Comal, and Guadalupe counties). The assistance will finance the planning, acquisition, design, and construction of a water supply project.

The Agency could save more than $900,000 over the life of the loans by using the SWIFT program.

The City of Buda is projected to see a water shortage starting in 2018 if additional water supplies are not delivered to the area. The assistance provided will allow the Agency to build a pipeline between the cities of Kyle and Buda to address the expected shortage.
