ROMCO Equipment recently hosted a series of events at TopGolf locations in Austin, Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Volvo's articulated hauler.
Over the four events, 45 ROMCO employees and 300 customers attended the events. Manufacturer representatives from Volvo Construction Equipment, Genesis, FRD/Kent, K-Tec, Rockland and GOMACO were also onsite to share segment specific knowledge to appropriate customers and their specific equipment needs.
"It's a real pleasure to be out supporting our dealer ROMCO and we appreciate the opportunity to have fun and fellowship with our customers," said Shea Davis, Volvo Construction Equipment, District Business Manager, Sales District 4. "We are showcasing our 50th anniversary Articulated Hauler in special gold paint. Since 1966 Volvo pioneered the concept of giving customers an all-terrain vehicle suited for working in tough ground conditions."
Volvo completed the world's first articulated hauler in Braås, Sweden, 50 years ago. "Gravel Charlie" quickly became a construction industry icon with over 70,000 articulated haulers sold throughout the world. To celebrate the anniversary, Volvo created a custom-painted gold A40G that will travel across the United States and Canada at dealer-sponsored events. The Golden Hauler will end its journey at CONEXPO 2017 in Las Vegas. It will be auctioned off with all proceeds benefiting post-high school technical training programs, which encourage younger generations to enter the construction industry.
"The Golden Hauler signifies 50 years of innovation since Volvo invented the articulated hauler in 1966," said Steve Passmore, Vice President of Sales for ROMCO Equipment. "Though the Golden Hauler was the headliner for these customer appreciation events, the real success was spending quality time with our customers and introducing them to other products and new divisions of our business. The event also gave our customers an opportunity to network with each other. We will continue to break new ground with our customers as Volvo introduces the world's largest articulated hauler, the A60H, with 60-ton payload. Our goal is to provide the industry's most productive products, backed with excellent customer service, so our customers can maximize their profitability."
