WASHINGTON, DC Elaine Chao, who served as George W. Bush's Secretary of Labor, has been announced as the new Secretary of Transportation. This post will be especially critical given President elect Trumps $1 trillion proposal to build bridges, roads and other infrastructure.

Chao also served as Deputy Secretary of Transportation under President George H. W. Bush. Her unique background will allow her to hit the ground running in working for additional monies for transportation and stream lining the permit process - another Trump objective.

Chao is married to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY).  McConnell, who co chaired the Super PAC American Crossroads, will no doubt be a powerful ally to Trump in getting his Infrastructure bill passed.

As Secretary of Labor, Chao met with Texas AGC members for a successful resolution to a labor dispute.  The Texas AGC again looks forward to working closely with the new Secretary.
