TxDOT Joins Birkman and Madsen to Celebrate Phase 2 of Ranch-to-Market Road 620 Construction

RM 620 groundbreaking: Dirt flies as officials kick off the start of the $6 million RM 620 phase 2 improvements, which will result in a six-lane roadway with a raised median and sidewalk.
AUSTIN, TX The Texas Department of Transportation joins Williamson County Precinct 1 Commissioner Lisa Birkman and Williamson County Precinct 4 Commissioner Larry Madsen, along with other local officials and engineers, as they celebrate the beginning of construction on Ranch-to-Market Road 620 phase 2, from Wyoming Springs Drive to Deep Wood Drive.
The $6-million project will convert approximately three miles of an existing four-lane roadway to a six-lane curb and gutter section with raised median. This segment will also include left and right-hand turn lanes, and the construction of sidewalk along the north side of RM 620 to fill in the current gaps. Once complete, this project will enhance safety and reduce congestion for motorists traveling through the area.
"This project is being funded with money from voter-approved road bonds, so I would like to thank the voters for approving the road bonds that made these needed improvements to RM 620 possible," said Williamson County Commissioner Birkman. "These bonds have funded improvements to RM 620 including phase 1 safety improvements approved by voters in the 2006 bond election and the improvements to phase 2 approved by voters in 2013."
The contractor for the project is Cox Commercial Construction and is expected to take about a year and a half to complete.
