AUSTIN, TX The Texas Department of Transportation joined Bastrop County Precinct 2 Commissioner Clara Beckett, Bastrop County Judge Paul Pape, and the community as they celebrated the completion of the Alum Creek bridge replacement and improvement project with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

The $431,000 project replaced the previous bridge washed out in the May 2016 floods. TxDOT and Bastrop County worked together to quickly get this structure on the off-system bridge program so funding could be established and a replacement developed.

"I can't thank TxDOT enough for their work and dedication to this project," said Bastrop County Precinct 2 Commissioner Clara Beckett. "The engineers were out here the day after the flood assessing the bridge and they made sure it was immediately put to the top of the off-system highway bridge program list. The bridge not only helps the residents who live across Alum Creek, but also provides vital access to first responders."

Construction began in December 2016 and was complete three weeks ahead of schedule. The contractor was Trevway, Inc.
