TxDOT Approves New Projects for Lufkin District
LUFKIN, TX The Texas Transportation Commission approves more than $181 million in new construction projects for the state, with four that totaled more than $7.4 million in the Lufkin District.
Counties in the Lufkin District approved for the new projects include Houston, Nacogdoches, Shelby, Sabine, and Trinity, Texas.
In Trinity County, a total of $4.3 million was approved which represents three construction projects. More than $1.5 million will go toward reconstructing and widening the pavement to 24 feet on FM 2262 from FM 2501 to SH 94. A second project, totaling more than $2.4 million will be located on FM 2262 and includes the reconstruction and widening of pavement to 24 feet from FM 357 to FM 2501. A third project totals $403,731 and will include improving guardrail to standards and safety treating fixed objects on FM 2262 from FM 357 to FM 2501.
Houston County was approved for two projects totaling nearly $1.4 million. The projects include work to repair the substructure on SH 21 at the Trinity River, which totals more than $1.2 million, and a second project totaling $161,740 that includes repairs on the substructure on SH 7 at the Trinity River.
Shelby County and Sabine County were approved for two projects that totaled more than $1.1 million. The work will include $657,694 for the improvement of guardrail to design standards and safety treating fixed objects on SH 87 in Shelby County from SH 7 to SH 147. A second project, totaling $460,662, will include work to upgrade guardrail to design standards and safety treating fixed objects on FM 83 in Sabine County from the San Augustine County line to FM 1.
Nacogdoches County was approved for two projects totaling $597,891. Both projects were designed to improve guardrail to design standards and safety treat fixed objects. One project totaling $427,031 will be located on SH 103 from the Angelina County line to the San Augustine County line. The second project totals $170,861 and will be located on SH 7 from the Angelina County line to BU 59.
