Students Explore Careers at Michels Corporation
BROWNSVILLE, WI Like Michels Corporation itself, career opportunities as a utility contractor are continuously growing and evolving.
Over 70 area middle and high school students learned about the variety of career paths available at Michels and in the utility, civil and heavy highway construction industries when they took part in Michels' first Career Exploration Day. The half-day event allowed students to tour Michels yard and shops while learning about the people and skills it takes to keep one of North America's largest and most diversified utility contractors running.
"We are happy to share information about career paths and the great work we do at Michels, and to engage and motivate our future workforce," said Kevin Michels, Vice President, Equipment.
"Many of our people come here right out of high school and get good, family-supporting jobs," said Mike Debelak, Vice President, Michels Paving. "People who are willing to work hard and embrace change can be successful at Michels."
This year, students from Campbellsport, Fond du Lac, Kewaskum, Lomira, Mayville and Waupun school districts as well as Winnebago Lutheran Academy attended Michels Career Exploration Day.
