Hunzinger Celebrates Groundbreaking of Dudek International Ice Center

HALES CORNERS, WI The Friends of Hales Corners Park & Pool, Milwaukee County Parks, Plunkett Raysich Architects, LLP, and Hunzinger Construction Company participated in a groundbreaking for the Dudek International Ice Center and Reiman Rink & Holz Family Shelter in Hales Corners, Wisconsin. United States Olympian, Bronze Medalist, and Hales Corners resident, Alyson Dudek, spoke and initiated the ground breaking at the ceremony.
The Alyson Dudek International Ice Center consists of a permanent year-round, 20-foot-by-49-foot, open-air pavilion will include a heated men's and women's accessible restroom, storage room, and heated concession area with counter and sink.
The entire facility will be ADA accessible, connected to parking with asphalt walking paths. Picnic tables in the open-air pavilion will provide vistas to a new 70-foot-by-120-foot demountable ice rink connected to the pavilion area with a concrete walk and stairs. An ADA path reaches the rink via the adjacent parking area. Large overhangs provide cover above the pavilion for all types of weather while permanent lighting at the facility afford skaters hours of recreation during winter months.
Hunzinger Construction Company has been selected to serve as construction manager for this project designed by Plunkett Raysich Architects, LLP. Hunzinger will handle all concrete and carpentry work on the project.
Also speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony were Donald Schwatz, President of Friends of Hales Corners Park & Pool, John Dargle Jr., the Director of Milwaukee County Parks Department, Village of Hales Corners President, Bob Ruesch, and Steve Taylor, Milwaukee County Supervisor District 9. John Holz, Partner at Plunket Raysich Architects and the project's lead designer and Kevin Lally, Project Manager at Hunzinger Construction Company spoke about the design and construction schedule as the project is slated to be complete winter 2015.
