ST. PAUL, MN MSA Professional Services announces the hiring of Matthew Jones, PLA, a Senior Landscape Architect, to the firm. Jones looks forward to collaborating with professionals throughout MSA to obtain the best results for clients. He is based at the firm's St. Paul, Minnesota, office.

Jones ran his own firm for 12 years based out of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and often worked with architects, planners, urban designers, graphic designers, and civil and structural engineers on projects. He served private and public clients throughout the United States.

"My goal is to encourage relationships between the environment and the senses by creating a harmonious connection between humans, nature, and physical structures," said Jones.

Extensive Experience

Jones has 24 years of experience in project coordination, supervising and landscape architecture. His previous firm, Matthew Fair Jones, LLC, provided an array of consulting design services: landscape architecture, master and site planning, urban design and illustration.

His experience also includes master planning of parks, outdoor recreation planning, recreational facilities development planning, and trail and trailhead design/layout.

Prior to owning his own business, Jones worked for other landscape architecture firms and performed planning work for Norway to prepare for the 1994 Winter Olympics. His projects have included office buildings, residential and multi-family, multi-office, large developments and town planning.

Jones obtained professional landscape architect licenses in Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota and Wisconsin.

Disciplines Combine Passions

"I was drawn into landscape architecture because I'm passionate about art, mathematics and science. Landscape architecture is a perfect combination of those disciplines," he said.

Jones earned a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture from Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colorado.
