DULUTH, MN Elizabeth (Beth) Tomlinson, PE, joins TKDA's Facilities Engineering Division to lead the firm's commissioning projects.

Tomlinson, a Mechanical Engineer, brings 15 years of experience in project development and the design of education, government, commercial, and health care facilities. She has served as commissioning authority for more than two million square feet of construction and is a qualified commissioning process provider. She is LEED BD+C-accredited, a certified energy management professional, and is involved in B3 Benchmarking for TKDA's clients, a process that helps building owners manage and reduce their energy costs.

Recent Minnesota energy code updates require that mechanical and lighting systems in new and renovated commercial buildings operate efficiently and are verified through the commissioning process. Tomlinson works through the commissioning process with owners, designers, and contractors to deliver fully functioning buildings to end users. "It's all about energy," she said. "I love working with the owners, helping them develop their project and achieve their goals."

"Beth enjoys getting out in the field and working with clients and contractors," said Tom Stoneburner, PE, LEED AP, Vice President of TKDA's Facilities Engineering Division. "She is a skilled communicator and she brings expertise and enthusiasm to our growing facilities commissioning team."

The Minneapolis native attended Marquette University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering. She is active in the Minnesota chapters of the U.S. Green Building Council and the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers, where she is establishing its Resiliency Subcommittee.

Tomlinson served in the U.S. Peace Corps for two years as a secondary school science teacher in Namibia. A dedicated and passionate volunteer, she also enjoys camping, hiking and outdoor activities with family.
