McCann Celebrates 50 Years of Service to the Construction Industry

Jim McCann with sisters and mother Terry Bagley, Lynn McCann and Kathy Heller.
CHICAGO, IL Richard (Dick) McCann founded McCann Construction Specialties Company in Villa Park, Illinois, in 1967 to sell concrete forms and accessories. Throughout the next 30 years, he steadily expanded the company to represent manufacturers of construction products and light equipment. McCann Power & Equipment was established in 1995 with the acquisition of three Case Construction Equipment dealerships in Wheeling, Illinois, Bolingbrook, Illinois, and Schererville, Indiana. Five years later, the two companies merged to become McCann Industries Inc., providing a full range of equipment, contractor supplies and services for the construction industry.
Dick passed away in 2013, but his legacy lives on in the day-to-day operations. McCann Industries remains a family-owned business and today, his son Jim McCann is President and CEO. Â The company has continued to grow with seven McCann locations throughout the Chicago, Illinois, area representing over 400 suppliers and manufacturers.
Recently, at the Addison, Illinois, location, Jim McCann, the McCann family, and employees decided to show their appreciation to their customers and local contractors by throwing a 50 Year Celebratory Pig Roast and Tent Sale.Â
"The business that my dad started 50 years ago would not be possible if it weren't for the business and support that we received from our many customers," said McCann. "And this party is our way of saying thank you for all of their many years of support and friendship."
More than 50 manufacturers that McCann represents came by to help with the celebration with displays set up under the tent or in the abundant sunshine. The manufacturers offered special one-day-only deals and savings on equipment, parts and supplies. Those attending were able to personally meet with the many manufacturers as well as see new equipment demos and ask questions. Manufacturers from CASE, Takeuchi, Wacker Neuson, DeWalt, Stihl, Husqvarna, E-Z Drill, Carlson, Sullair and many more were present at the open house.
Raffle prizes and giveaway items, delicious BBQ and cold drinks were offered throughout the day.
