DENVER, CO MYR Group subsidiary, Sturgeon Electric Company provides a variety of electrical transportation construction services, including overhead and underground electrical installations, traffic signal intersections for traffic management systems, intelligent transportation systems, light rail signalization and street lighting services.

Serving clients for decades throughout Colorado and neighboring states, Sturgeon Electric Company's transportation division now has offices in Chino, California, and Anchorage, Alaska, where crews are busy upgrading transportation systems at 35 intersections throughout the city for the State of Alaska Department of Transportation.

Sturgeon Electric Company successfully achieved substantial completion of Colorado Department of Transportation's (CDOT) $72 million Eastbound I-70 Mountain Express Lanes Project, which was designed to improve travel and relieve traffic congestion along Colorado's I-70 Mountain Corridor. Known as Colorado's Gateway to Play, I-70 serves as the main traffic artery for several of Colorado's most desirable travel destinations, such as ski resorts, camping destinations, and national parks.

A 13-mile stretch of I-70 was widened to accommodate a new Mountain Express Lane to be used as a third travel lane during peak travel periods.

Sturgeon Electric Company crews installed an active traffic management system composed of electronic signage, various sensors, tolling systems, ramp metering, new roadway lighting and additional electrical services located throughout the entire 13-mile corridor.

Mountain Corridor Constructors, LLC, a partnership led by AECOM and supported by Lawrence Construction Company, served as the CM/GC for the project. AECOM's senior safety manager recognized Sturgeon Electric for having an excellent safety program that all project members; including those from AECOM - should learn from.
