Trench Shoring Company's Slide Rail Systems Meet Challenges of Fuel Tank Installation
Dealing with large-scale dimensions and unusual tank configurations presented multiple challenges in a recent fuel tank project at a Norwalk, California, Costco location. However, the specialized capabilities of Trench Shoring Company's Slide Rail Shoring System were more than equal to the task.
Because Costco sells so much fuel and must refill their tanks several times a week, the client required installation of five large fuel tanks, placed closely together. The contractor, Wayne Perry, also designed an L-shaped configuration for the large fuel tank installation pit, which measured approximately 60 feet by 70 feet. A key benefit of using an L-shaped design versus a traditional square configuration is reduction in both the labor involved in removing a larger amount of soil, plus the cost of expensive rock fill for such a large pit. Normally, such installations employ a square configuration because most companies are unable to handle shoring angles of such large scale. However, because considerable cost savings can result from pushing the limits of slide rail applications, B.L. Hayes Contracting, Inc. was hired by Wayne Perry to dig and shore the hole.
To provide the best solutions for this challenging installation, Mike Hayes turned to Trench Shoring Company to provide a component-based customized slide rail system. After fully understanding the contractor's specs for the Costco installation, Trench Shoring determined which components would best meet the multiple requirements. The company designed and delivered the equipment then assembled the system on the job site using Hayes' equipment. Because the Trench Shoring Slide Rails were pre-fabricated, there was no need to hire outside assembly labor, and welders, saving additional project costs. Total installation time was reduced as was lost time on site during the entire excavation and shoring process. Time from initial startup through the final grading of the hole to required depth was just four days.
Notes B.L. Hayes Principal, Mike Hayes, "I was very satisfied with the team we put together on this project. This was the smoothest install, due to Trench Shoring Company's on-time deliveries, extra rigging and lighter-than-the competition panels. Trench Shoring Company also provided a top-notch shoring installer, Jason Lakin, who was both knowledgeable and willing to devote the extra time needed."
Wayne Perry and B.L. Hayes selected Trench Shoring Company because of their decades-long reputation and experience in handling large, difficult installations such as this five-tank fuel tank project. Trench Shoring Company is the largest supplier of patented slide rail shoring systems in the Western United States, providing slide rail panel sizes from 6 feet to 28 feet from their 10 locations. Because of the company's huge inventory, customized design support and fast delivery, and their commitment to the contractor's satisfaction, Trench Shoring Company has proven success in helping to keep projects on schedule and on budget.
