Improving Jobsite Safety with More Cordless Tools
At a recent press event in Nashville, Tennessee, DEWALT introduced more than 30 products for the many diverse construction markets. Keeping with its expansion of the "cordless jobsite" many of the new products were additions to the company's already expansive cordless products as well as hand tools, accessories and storage both on site, trucks and work vans.
Introducing the New Age of Jobsite Connectivity
DEWALT announced the new age of jobsite connectivity with its unprecedented effort to make building more efficient through digital solutions. Over the coming months, DEWALT will launch a fully connected system, including WiFi mesh network and, later, an Internet of Things platform.
After extensive research, DEWALT identified that, due to the increase in digital dependency in the construction field, there is an unmet need for reliable connectivity and asset management across the jobsite. Sharing data has become more necessary for contractors, yet limited connectivity options exist.
DEWALT's patented WiFi mesh technology provides a key solution with its ruggedized access points built to withstand the harsh and variable conditions of a construction jobsite. DEWALT WiFi enables general and trade contractors to collaborate in real-time across large-scale jobsites and to easily access critical site information such as prints, schedules, budgets and RFIs.
"DEWALT understands how vital the building and construction industries are to local and global economies," said Tony Nicolaidis, Vice President of Marketing for Connected Systems. "Leveraging technology, our goal is to provide solutions for gathering in-depth jobsite data for better decision-making by general contractors and trade contractors, thus enhancing productivity and safety."
The WiFi solution is the beginning and foundation of an entire end-to-end solution. DEWALT will also offer an IoT platform, enabling contractors to understand the location and utilization of assets and data on site. As an initial offering, the DEWALT Tool Connect inventory management system is one component of total asset management. This will become part of the larger digital platform providing critical data to inform decision-making.
"Entering the connectivity space is a great move for DEWALT and a promising opportunity for the industry. They bring a wealth of expertise to the industry as the first company to truly focus on creating a platform to support the Internet of Things. In tackling connectivity, we see huge potential and opportunity for DEWALT and the wider construction community," said Taylor Cupp, Technologist for Mortenson Construction.
Together, these solutions from DEWALT will connect the jobsite in a revolutionary way, allowing contractors to improve efficiency, profitability and safety through unparalleled connectivity, insights and asset optimization.

FLEXVOLT Cordless Compressor Made in the USA with Global Materials
The FLEXVOLT 60V MAX 2.5 Gallon Cordless Air Compressor is made in Jackson, Tennessee, with global materials and is part of the growing FLEXVOLT System from DEWALT.
For the user that wants to leverage their existing pneumatic tools, the FLEXVOLT 60V MAX 2.5 Gallon Cordless Air Compressor is a compact, portable, and lightweight choice at only 21.5 pounds without a battery. The compressor achieves up to 1,220 nails per charge using one 6.0Ah FLEXVOLT Battery and a DEWALT 18 GA Brad Nailer. The compressor maintains speed during a variety of finish applications including molding, baseboards, door and window casing work, deck lattice, as well as cabinet and furniture projects.
The FLEXVOLT 60V MAX 2.5 Gallon Cordless Air Compressor features an efficient brushless motor paired with a heavy-duty, oil-free pump. It provides cordless convenience with the power of a corded tool. Another premium feature of the compressor is its OneTurn regulator for fast, accurate pressure adjustment. Traditional compressors have two separate gauges; one gauge that measures tank pressure and another that measures the regulated output pressure flowing through the couplers and into the air tools. To adjust the regulated pressure on traditional compressors, the user has to turn the regulator knob and wait for the regulated pressure gauge to catch up. The FLEXVOLT 60V MAX 2.5 Gallon Cordless Air Compressor comes with the OneTurn regulator which allows the user to simply turn the knob so the indicator is pointing to the desired PSI. The compressor will then self-regulate.

Users can position the 20V MAX Cordless Tripod Light overhead to reduce shadows and glare as well as illuminate hazards, workstations, and equipment. The light can also help provide contrast and color visibility for detailed tasks or to direct light at work surfaces.
With respect to 20V MAX, maximum initial battery voltage (measured without a workload) is 20 volts. Nominal voltage is 18.
Keep Track of Tools with Tool Connect Inventory Management System
DEWALT announced updates to Tool Connect, a system originally launched in 2015 that used Bluetooth technology to manage batteries on the jobsite. Now, Tool Connect features a three-part inventory management solution that encompasses the Tool Connect Inventory Manager web portal, the updated Tool Connect mobile app, and connected products.
On average, professionals spend about one full workday a week looking for or waiting for tools on the jobsite. Professionals estimate that thousands of dollars are lost every year due to poor inventory management. As a result, an inventory management system that can track tools and jobsite assets is critical.
The Tool Connect system from DEWALT works by pairing connected tools, equipment, and materials with the Tool Connect app. The same data is also stored online, accessed by logging into the web portal with a DEWALT.com registration, username, and password. This allows the user to track the last seen location of paired assets as well as manage and assign tools and equipment to different jobsites. The system also streamlines tracking, check-in, and checkout processes of tools thereby eliminating wasted time spent searching for such tools.
Connecting tools, equipment, and materials is key to this inventory management system. Connecting can be done in four ways - via new and existing Tool Connect tools, the new Tool Connect Tag, the new 20V MAX Tool Connect Connector, and existing Tool Connect batteries. Existing connected products are the Stackable Corded/Cordless LED Area Light with Tool Connect and Built-in Charger and the 20V MAX 2.0 Amp and 5.0 Amp lithium ion batteries with integrated Bluetooth capability.
The FLEXVOLT Track Saw Brings Power, Portability, and Precision to the Jobsite
Another new one is the FLEXVOLT 60V MAX 6-1/2-inch Track Saw, combining the convenience of cordless with the precision, portability, and versatility of a corded track saw. With an efficient brushless motor, specially designed transmission, and precision ground woodworking blade to minimize deflection, the track saw delivers a finished edge just like a table saw.
The Track Saw is capable of an on-track cut depth of 2-1/8 inches at 90 degrees and 1-5/8 inches at 45 degrees. Including a depth scale to accurately indicate exact depth of cut, the scale accounts for the thickness of the track from the bottom of the track down to 1/16-inch. With straight plunge and a parallel-link plunge mechanism, the saw can be used in a variety of ergonomic orientations. A dual-edge track allows for fast setup and long anti-splinter guard length. In addition, a rail adjustment feature allows the saw to be accurately adjusted.
Other features of the saw include an anti-kickback function with integrated shoe and variable-speed motor. Without any user adjustment necessary, the anti-kickback function stops the saw from moving backwards along the rail or from climbing out of the work piece when making plunge cuts. A variable speed motor allows the user to change the speed of cut that's best for the material type and an enclosed guard has a 90 percent dust extraction capability when connected to a dust extraction device designed in accordance with the relevant regulations regarding dust emission. In addition, an included 6.5-inch, 42-tooth blade gives a fine and accurate finish with very little breakout in laminates.
