ACEC/MA Announces BR+A as a 2018 Winner of Silver Engineering Excellence Award
NEW ORLEANS — The American Council of Engineering Companies of Massachusetts (ACEC/MA) has named BR+A as a winner of a 2018 Silver Engineering Excellence Award for work on Project Legacy, a 1.7 million square foot facility in New Orleans designed as "VA Mission Critical". The 2018 Engineering Excellence Awards were announced at the recent ACEC/MA Engineering Excellence and Awards Gala.
BR+A, with offices in Boston, was retained by Southeast Louisiana Veterans Care System to assist in the design of a critical care facility for veterans. The goal was to have the capability to remain fully operational for five days upon the complete incapacitation of public utilities, while maintaining thermal comfort for patients and registering 30 percent more energy efficient than code requires. The project's main mission — to provide the highest level of care and compassion for veterans — was met by the state-of-the-art healthcare environment, with Project Legacy setting new standards for patient-centered care, resiliency and sustainability.
"The awards honor this year's most outstanding engineering accomplishments in Massachusetts," said ACEC/MA President Michael J. Scipione, P.E. President and CEO of Weston & Sampson Engineering, Inc. "They are excellent examples of how engineers create projects that improve our lives and communities. Professional engineers are dedicated to providing quality infrastructure, providing safe and reliable water and energy and making our buildings safe and energy efficient. We congratulate our winners on their exceptional achievements."
