Adolfson & Peterson Construction Begins Renovations and Construction on Midlothian ISD'S Heritage High School

MIDLOTHIAN, TX — Adolfson & Peterson Construction (AP), a national construction management firm and general contractor, started renovations and construction of an addition for Midlothian Independent School District's (MISD) Heritage High School.
The $53-million project includes a 185,000-square-foot addition to Heritage High School, adding a second-level classroom wing, two gymnasiums, a fine arts complex, cafeteria expansion, and four new athletics facilities. AP will also construct a new entrance pavilion along with parking lot expansions and a new football field. In addition, the project will include renovations to the existing high school and gymnasium spaces.
Established in 1906, MISD is a fast-growing K-12 public school district with more than 9,800 students and over 1,200 employees. MISD, comprised of 12 campuses, focuses on innovative learning environments of academic and vocational student interests.
“We are thrilled for the opportunity to support MISD in this dynamic project,” said Corbett Nichter, EVP and Chief Operating Officer at AP. “Now more than ever, it's important to provide our school districts the resources they need to succeed. With this expansion and renovation, Heritage High School will be well set for success in the years to come.”
"We believe in fostering an environment where every student can discover their passions and reach their unlimited potential," said Lane Ledbetter, Ph.D., Superintendent of Schools. "Thanks to the support of our community, we are able to create new opportunities at Heritage High School that will benefit our students for many years to come."
The estimated completion date for the project is scheduled for summer 2022. In addition, VLK Architects will serve as planning architect for the project.
“We are both proud and excited to partner with Midlothian ISD and Adolfson & Peterson in the realization of Phase 2 of the master plan of Heritage High School,” said Ross Rivers, Principal at VLK Architects.
Midlothian Independent School District Board of Trustees, District Superintendent Lane Ledbetter, Ph.D., and Heritage High School Principal Krista Tipton were on-hand for the start of construction.
Notable projects developed in Texas by AP include the new PGA of America headquarters in Frisco, Texas, Park Cities Presbyterian Church in Dallas, and several other school district projects for Arlington ISD, Fort Worth ISD, Birdville ISD, and Northwest ISD in the DFW area.
