AGC Georgia Hosts Annual Convention in Destin, Florida







The Associated General Contractors of Georgia (AGC Georgia) assembled in Florida for their 2018 Annual Convention. The convention lasted three days and offered members, along with their families, plenty of activities and events to choose from.
Attendees were treated to activities such as a golf tournament, networking events, the annual Beach bash, and an after party with a performance from a local band. The annual meeting was held Friday and included remarks from Chapter President Scott Clark, Treasurer C. David Moody Jr. and Mike Dunham, AGC Georgia's CEO. AGC of America President Eddie Stewart (also AGC Georgia member) and AGC of America CEO Steve Sanherr were welcomed by Chapter President Clark to present information on the national AGC progress.
A Women's Brunch was held on Friday hosted by Jennifer Clark and featuring program author Amy Stewart. The Beach Bash on Friday afternoon gave all the chance to enjoy the weather and spend time with fellow members. Friday wrapped up with the Inaugural Executive Alliance member dinner for participants as well as a young leadership program dinner.
Keynote speaker, Lt. General Russell Honoré kicked off Saturday morning's awards program with a well-received presentation. He shared his experience in committing to safety as well as using common sense to move forward in the construction industry. Lt. General Honoré communicated the importance of teamwork along with the daily opportunity to learn from past mistakes to improve the future.
AGC Georgia presented both general and specialty contractors corporate safety awards for their accomplishments in 2017. The AGC of America/AGC Georgia Certificates of Excellence were presented to those members with exceptional safety records. Saturday morning's program was concluded with those contractors who placed first in the chapter's Build Georgia Awards.
The 2018 Convention ended on Saturday night with a reception followed by dinner. President Clark presented Charlie Garbutt, CEO of Garbutt Construction Company, with the SIR award in honor of his commitment to improving the construction industry.
Kevin Kuntz became the new Chapter's President for 2018-2019. He concluded by announcing Board of Directors who will serve with him during his term.
