Barrett of Hafer Design Wins Award from Indiana Society of Professional Engineers
EVANSVILLE, IN — Amy Barrett, Principal and Electrical Engineer for Hafer Design, has been named the 2020 recipient of the Thomas A. Morris Engineering Leadership Award of the Indiana Society of Professional Engineers.
Thomas Armstrong Morris (December 26, 1811 - April 1, 1904) was an American Railroad Executive and Civil Engineer from Kentucky and a soldier, serving as a Brigadier General of the Indiana Militia in service to the Union during the early months of the American Civil War. He was also instrumental in the planning and construction of the postbellum Indiana State House.
Barrett receives the award for her exceptional leadership in the engineering profession in the Evansville area, in the state of Indiana, and at the national levels. Among them are: President of the Indiana Society of Professional Engineers; Vice Chair of NSPE Professional Engineers in Private Practice (PEPP) in 2011; National Director of the NSPE Central Region in 2013-2015; Chair for Council of Fellows with the National Society of Professional Engineers; and President of the Board of Directors for NSPE's DiscoverE program. Locally, she is on the Board of Directors of the Lampion mental health center in Evansville and formerly was on the Board of the Evansville YWCA.
