AUSTIN, TX — The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) announces the appointment of Alanna Bettis, PE, as Deputy Director of the Maintenance Division.

Bettis received her architectural engineering degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 2002 and her Professional Engineer's license in 2007. Bettis joined TxDOT in 2004, working for the Bridge Division as a Bridge Designer. In 2010, Bettis began working in the Bridge Division's Project Development Section as a Project Manager. After a two-year break to raise her three children, she went back to the Bridge Division to once again work as a Project Manager in the Project Development Section.

During that time, she developed and maintained multiple bridge funding programs, assisted with the development of Bridge Division's Transportation Asset Management Program, acted as subject matter expert for the TxDOTConnect project, and coordinated the funding and plan development efforts for numerous bridge projects. She also acted as a liaison between the Districts and the Bridge Division.

In 2017, Bettis moved to the Maintenance Division to serve as the Contracts and MMS Support Section Director. In this role, her section supported the districts by providing training and information regarding maintenance contracts, MMS, field engineering, and vegetation management, winter weather calibration program, and the pit and quarry program. She has been involved in the implementation of material contracts statewide, development of the contractor evaluation process, building Tableau dashboards, acting as a subject matter expert for the TxDOTConnect project, and assisting with emergency response.
