Carmel Clay Library Expansion and Renovation Project Breaks Ground

CARMEL, INDIANA – Earlier this month, the Carmel Clay Public Library (CCPL) broke ground on an exciting expansion and renovation project – one that will upgrade its Main Library Branch and address the evolving needs of a growing community.

RATIO worked closely with the library's steering committee, board of directors, staff, and community members to create a design that strengthens the library's civic identity on Main Street and addresses the needs of a forward-thinking cultural institution.

With construction underway, the resulting project will expand access to open, flexible social space with additional seating capacity, increased event space, an on-site Digital Media Lab, and a new attached parking structure. The library will also feature a 24/7 drive-thru book drop.

The renovation and expansion will enhance the Main Library's ability to carry out CCPL's mission of inspiring lifelong discovery, facilitating collaboration, and connecting people with resources.

The project is expected to be completed in late 2022. The Main Library Branch will be temporarily located within the vacant Marsh Building in Merchant's Square near 116th Street and Keystone Pkwy.
