Consigli Construction and Consigli Foundation Support The Greater Boston Food Bank

BOSTON, MA — The Consigli Foundation presents a donation of $25,000 to The Greater Boston Food Bank. In addition, non-perishable goods were collected across Consigli Construction Co., Inc.'s jobsites in Massachusetts. The donations were recently presented to the food bank. The movement was motivated by Consigli's drive to support the local Boston community amidst what has been a challenging year for many. The donation will go to providing more than 78,000 meals for the community.
“Thank you to Consigli for today's donation of food, money, and ongoing volunteer time. The holidays are looking much different for everyone this year, and many families will be experiencing food insecurity for the first time due of the impact of the COVID-19 crisis,” said Cheryl Schondek, Senior Vice President of The Greater Boston Food Bank. “With your ongoing support, we can end hunger here.”
This is the latest chapter in Consigli's relationship with the City of Boston and The Greater Boston Food Bank. Consigli was a key partner in the original construction of The Greater Boston Food Bank's Yawkey Distribution Center back in 2009, which allowed the organization to double the size of its existing warehouse by creating a new, sustainable headquarters in Boston's South End. This new location accommodated 50 million pounds of food — a 67 percent increase over the old facility — and was built based on a zero export plan reusing existing pile caps and contaminated soil to save nearly $1 million for the organization.
“2020 has been hard on many local families, and they need our support now more than ever,” said Ryan Jennette, Director of Boston Operations for Consigli Construction Co., Inc. “We are grateful to have the opportunity give back to our local Boston community and continue to support the Greater Boston Food Bank.”
