SEATTLE, WA — HDR announces that Jim Cox, AIA, has joined HDR as Principal Planner for the education, science, and advanced technologies sector. While he will support project teams across the globe, Cox is based in Seattle.

In his role, Cox will lead laboratory programming and planning for a broad range of education, science, and advanced technology projects. He will work together with designers, project architects, building engineers, and other design professionals as part of a collaborative interdisciplinary team.

"Jim is an enormous asset to HDR's lab planning practice, particularly with his expertise and experience in life sciences facilities," said Ken Brown, Director of Planning for Education, Science, and Advanced Technologies. "The addition of Jim to our team will bolster our continued growth and excellence in the delivery of science projects across our global practice."

Trained as an architect, Cox has over 35 years of experience in the industry, with over 20 years of focus on laboratory facility planning and design. He has worked closely with corporate and academic clients and design teams to develop efficient and functional laboratory concepts that support both the client's current needs and their long-term research mission.
