NAPLES, FL — Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm, announces that its State Road (SR) 82 (Immokalee Road) continuous flow intersection (CFI) project in Southwest Florida has been awarded the 2020 National Project of the Year Award in the Over $20 Million Category by the American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE).

The project was part of the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District One’s six-lane capacity improvement project in Lee County. During heavy traffic hours, the popular commuter intersection sees an average of more than 1,350 cars per hour going against even heavier peak-hour left turn volumes of 1,410 cars per hour.

“We are honored to receive this award from ASHE. This is the first CFI in Florida, and it provides added capacity, improved safety, and reduced intersection delays for Lee County residents. The intersection opened to the public in July 2019 and was also selected as a 2020 Grand Award Winner for Engineering Excellence by the American Council of Engineering Companies of Florida.
