The WEF Fellows Recognition Program underscores WEF’s role as a leading water quality resource, which is due in large part to the expertise of its diverse membership. WEF Fellows are recognized in various areas of expertise including design, education, operations, regulation, research, utility management, and leadership. The selection committee recommendations are approved by the WEF Board of Trustees and celebrate the distinguished accomplishments and contributions of individuals who have made impact in the global water environment in a variety of disciplines.
Based in Denver, Colorado, Hartfelder has over 30 years of experience providing project management and engineering design for municipal and federal clients. Her water and wastewater treatment plant experience includes preparation of master plans, preliminary and detailed designs, and engineering services during construction. She has extensive experience in the evaluation and design of wastewater disinfection systems, as well as business management including mentoring and leading staff, project delivery, client service management, and business development.
WEF President Lynn Broaddus said that this year’s Fellows “join a growing group of water-sector innovators that help to ensure our industry remains fresh, dynamic, and able to adapt to any challenge for public health and the environment that may emerge. WEF is proud to count the newest group of Fellows among its members and looks forward to their future accomplishments.”
Hartfelder is a licensed Professional Engineer and Project Management Professional (PMP), and holds a master’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Colorado, and bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Michigan Technological University. She has served as President of both WEF and the Rocky Mountain Water Environment Association.
