PHOENIX, AZ — McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. announces that Jim Lauer has returned to the firm's Southwest regional office as Vice President to lead the region's aviation, mission critical, and health care market expansion initiatives.

An industry veteran, Lauer has more than 35 years of construction experience, beginning his career with McCarthy in the early 1980s and rising through the ranks from Laborer to Senior Project Manager over the course of 20 years with the company. Over the past 16 years, his passion for the industry has only grown as he crafted his leadership skills via construction management, particularly in the aviation and health care sectors. He is returning to the firm to lead the expansion of these market sectors, in addition to mission critical.

Lauer has dedicated his career to delivering results for clients and partners from early in design phase through final project completion and beyond. Some of his completed projects include the Sky Harbor International Airport Terminal 3 Modernization as well as the Rental Car Center. He also completed multiple projects for Scottsdale Healthcare and St. Joseph's Hospital (Dignity Health).

"As I started my career, Jim was one of my first managers working at Sky Harbor on the International Walkway. He was a great mentor at McCarthy,” said Justin Kelton, President of McCarthy's Southwest region. “Jim's technical expertise and leadership skills are unmatched. But one of his greatest strengths is his genuine care for others and the strong and trusting friendships he has. He is an exceptionally trusted partner. This truly sets him apart from others in the industry. We are honored to have Jim back home at McCarthy, and he has already made such a tremendous impact in the short time he has been back.”

Lauer studied at the University of Missouri, Columbia, before beginning his work as a Tradesman with McCarthy. He completed the Carpenter Union Apprenticeship Program and AGC Supervisory Training Program. He is a member of the Support Sky Harbor Coalition, an ambassador for New Pathways for Youth, and a board member for East Valley Partnership.
