BATON ROUGE, LA — The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), Office of Multimodal Commerce's Director of Ports, Mary Bourgoyne, PE, has been appointed as the President of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Baton Rouge Branch.

Bourgoyne, who previously served as the ASCE President-Elect, will serve a one-year term as President for 2020-2021. She holds a Master of Science in coastal engineering from LSU, and is a certified Inland Maritime Port Executive from the International Association of Maritime and Port Executives. “I want to congratulate Molly on her new appointment into ASCE,” said DOTD Secretary Shawn D. Wilson, Ph.D. “She has had an incredible engineering career and has brought her immense industry knowledge with her not only to DOTD, but to ASCE. This organization will benefit having her leadership and skillset.”

“If (Molly's) ASCE Presidency has the tenacity and energy and enthusiasm that she showed as a young engineer — and I'm sure as she shows today — you're all in good hands,” said current ASCE Region 5 Governor, Rudy Simoneaux of CPRA.

Bourgoyne is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Women in Transportation Systems, the Louisiana Engineering Society, the Society of Women Engineers, and currently serves on the Inland Rivers Ports and Terminals Board. Additionally, she represents DOTD - OMC at the Ports Association of Louisiana, and various other port and waterways organizations.
