CORPUS CHRISTI, TX — City Manager Peter Zanoni appoints a new Director and Deputy Director at Corpus Christi International Airport (CCIA).

Kevin Smith is now serving as Director of Aviation at CCIA. Smith came to the city back in April of 2020 and has served as Assistant Director until his promotion. Smith graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Science in economics and from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University with a Master of Science in aeronautics. Smith has more than 30 years of combined experience as Assistant Vice President at the Dallas-Fort Worth Airport and with Southwest Airlines.

Tyler Miller also came to CCIA in April to serve as Assistant Director. Miller has been named Deputy Director of Aviation, which will expand his role in managing the airport organization. A graduate of Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science in aviation management, Miller previously worked as Airport Operations Manager in South Bend, Indiana, and Airport Operations Supervisor at Clearwater Airport in Florida.

“Attracting and developing top talent for all city's leadership positions has been a key priority of mine for the past 20 months,” Zanoni said. “The recruitment and recent promotion of Kevin and Tyler puts their talent at the forefront of our airport operations. They already have demonstrated their ability to improve our airport operations, and their work will continue to have significant benefits for air travel for the coastal bend region.”

Smith and Miller have a combined 39 years of experience in executive leadership in aviation.
