DURANGO, CO — Archer Western recently offered their expertise and resources to address a sewer problem at the Boys & Girls Club of La Plata County. The North Main Avenue Club, which occupies the former La Plata County armory, needed to replace aged underground sewer pipes.

Archer Western is the lead contractor on the city of Durango, Colorado’s, largest-ever construction project, the Santa Rita Water Reclamation Facility,

“Sewer systems are not typically attractive fundraising opportunities, but vital to the operation of a youth development program serving 100-plus children, tweens and teens each day,” said Vaughn Morris, CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of La Plata County. “This repair would have been very difficult for the Club or the County to complete if not for Archer Western and local businesses who stepped up to help with equipment and material donations.”

As Club staff began to address the sewer issue, the Santa Rita Water Reclamation building site was taking shape. Recognizing a unique opportunity for a multi-agency partnership (private, non-profit and governmental), the Club approached the Archer Western team who immediately accepted the invitation.

“Citizenship is one of our core values, and we’re passionate about it,” said Archer Western Program Manager Brad Sanders. “We’re proud to be able to work alongside organizations like the Boys & Girls Club of La Plata County that provide quality youth programs to children and teens in the Durango area.”

Archer Western also secured additional donated project assistance including Four Corners Materials, GJ Pipe, Alert Signs and Ferguson of Durango.

“The city of Durango commends Archer Western for investing in our community by providing a critical improvement to the Boys & Girls Club of La Plata County,” said Ron LeBlanc, City Manager. “The city would also like to acknowledge the local contractors and suppliers for contributing to this important project.”
