GAITHERSBURG, MD — RMF’s National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Master Plan project recently won an American Planning Association (APA) Honor Award for Outstanding Federal Planning. Located on NIST’s Gaithersburg Campus in Gaithersburg, Maryland, the project was sponsored by the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the United States Department of Commerce.

The RMF team was led by Steve McAdams and Corey Gray, who were responsible for assessing the capacity, reliability, and efficiency of the extensive underground utility distribution systems. Other contractors on the project included: Metropolitan Architects & Planners, Inc., ERG, Gorove/Slade, RC Goodwin & Associates, and Rhodeside & Harwell.

The American Planning Association provides leadership in the development of communities for all by advocating excellence in planning, promoting education and resident empowerment, and providing members with the tools and support necessary to ethically meet the challenges of growth and change. The Federal Planning Division of the APA provides a forum for people involved in the development and/or implementation of planning and land management policies, techniques, and procedures for federal properties located throughout the United States and overseas.
