DURHAM, NC – Skanska USA announces that Kelly Monroe has been promoted to Vice President of Business Development for its North Carolina/Virginia operations. Monroe will be based in the company's Durham office.

"Kelly has extensive knowledge of Skanska's market business strategy and deep experience in the market sectors that are important to our region," said Greg Peele, General Manager/Executive Vice President responsible for Skanska's North Carolina/Virginia building operations. "She is well-suited to assume this important role in the North Carolina and Virginia markets."

Most recently, Monroe served as the Senior Director for Skanska's Market Strategy Solutions group (MSS) supporting the company's four key markets: aviation, healthcare, life sciences and data centers. She was responsible for strategic development, pursuit strategy for mega projects and key accounts, national public relations initiatives and oversight of day-to-day operations for the MSS team.

Monroe has been with Skanska for 14 years, 10 of which were spent as an integral team member of the Healthcare Center of Excellence (COE). She moved into her role with the Market Strategy Solutions team in 2015.

"I've worked with Kelly for 15 years, beginning when she was at the COE and most recently in the MSS group," said Bob Myer, Senior Vice President in North Carolina/Virginia. "She's been a valued member of our pursuit teams, and I have always appreciated her contributions to strategy and pursuit planning. I'm delighted to be overseeing her efforts to continue the success we've had in this region."

Monroe has a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Georgia. She also completed Skanska's Executive to Leadership program and is a LEED Accredited Professional.
