Stantec to Design Five Temple College Projects from 2021 Bond Program

TEMPLE, TX — Temple College has selected global design firm Stantec to provide architecture and engineering (A/E) services for five campus projects. Funded by the college’s 2021 Bond Program, the projects include the design of the school’s new main building, Campus Services Center, Visual Arts Center, and the Health Sciences Center expansion and renovation.

“These projects exemplify Temple College’s commitment to providing their students with the best higher education experience possible,” said Tom Oehler, Texas Practice Leader at Stantec. “Our team has a deep understanding of the college’s goals, recently collaborating with Temple College stakeholders to develop the current master plan. We look forward to continuing our work for the college and delivering designs that will serve students, and the Temple community, for many years to come.”

Health Sciences Center Expansion
Home to Temple College’s largest academic programs, the Health Sciences Center will be renovated and expanded to accommodate program growth, supporting local demand for health care jobs. The project will focus on creating functional and flexible spaces that better support the health departments, which include emergency medical services, nursing, sonography, surgical technology, respiratory care, and dental hygiene. The updated facility will add classrooms and health science labs for students to learn and train with equipment.

The overall design of the center will reflect the importance of Health Sciences at Temple College and provide a visual anchor for the east side of the campus. Further planned additions include faculty and administration offices, community spaces, student services, and a shaded outdoor gathering space.

Main Building and Campus Services Center
The new Temple College Main Building represents the largest investment that Temple College has made in its own future since its founding. The Stantec design team will create a mixed, multi-use facility to serve as a front door for all students. As the visual centerpiece, the building establishes the Temple College brand and reflects its role as an educational center and resource within the community.

The Main Building will provide one-stop services for all incoming students to help address enrollment requirements quickly and efficiently. The facility will also house academic partner institutions supporting students engaged in these shared programs.

Further, the facility will serve as a general instruction center, offering flexible educational spaces that support a variety of programs, including business and continuing education classes. Other amenities will include an event space, outdoor meeting balconies, and roof-top terrace.

Visual Arts Center
The new Visual Arts Center will centralize the college’s Visual Arts Program, including art classrooms, flexible studios, offices, and an outdoor studio and sculpture garden. When complete, the center will better serve the program’s functional needs, accommodate growth, and support a full four-year program partnership with Texas A&M Central Texas.
