TxDOT Appoints Ekdahl Construction Division Deputy Director

ABILINE, TX — TxDOT Construction Division Director Gina Gallegos announces the selection of Wayne Ekdahl, P.E., as the Deputy Director of the Construction Division.
Ekdahl is both a Registered Land Surveyor and a Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas. He earned a bachelor's degree in engineering from Old Dominion University in 2006 and a bachelor's degree from Tarleton State University in 1985.
He began his career at TxDOT in 1996 as a Construction Inspector. In subsequent years, he expanded his knowledge and experience serving in positions including Survey Technician, Roadway Designer, Design Project Manager, and District Surveyor. In 2015, Ekdahl was selected as the Abilene Area Engineer, and in 2016, as the Abilene District Director of Construction.
Ekdahl has also served his country-as a submariner in the U.S. Navy for nine years and again, as part of the U.S. Navy Reserve, during a one-year deployment to Iraq in 2005. He and his wife, Sylvia, have been married for 33 years and enjoy spending time with their son Joseph, daughter Sabrina, son-in-law Dustin, and five grandchildren. When he has the time, Ekdahl also enjoys kayaking, yoga, and spending time in the great outdoors.
