OAK RIDGE, TN — To support new and ongoing projects in the region, Burns & McDonnell opened a new, permanent office in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The 100 percent employee-owned engineering, architecture, construction, environmental and consulting firm plans to add 20 employees at this office, including hiring from local universities, within the next two years.

U.S. Rep. Chuck Fleischmann, Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) Director Thomas Zacharia, and city officials took part in the ribbon-cutting ceremony at Burns & McDonnell. The firm's new 4,000-square-foot office space focuses on specialized facility and infrastructure projects in support of federal, municipal, and higher education clients. The firm — already with an office in Chattanooga — recognized the need for an Oak Ridge office as several new critical infrastructure projects were awarded to Burns & McDonnell within the area, including the Second Target Station project at ORNL.

"Burns & McDonnell's Oak Ridge expansion is extremely exciting news, and I'm thrilled that they have opened a permanent office in Oak Ridge,” said Fleischmann whose district includes the national laboratory and nearby communities. “Their plan to hire from local universities and invest in the local workforce shows that they are committed to leading the way in workforce development and deepening ties to the community. I am confident that Burns & McDonnell will continue to do excellent work at ORNL and that their new Oak Ridge office will allow them to continue their trailblazing work to improve our nation's scientific and nuclear research."

“We are excited to expand our reach and bring our service offerings closer to our clients in the Oak Ridge area,” said Phil Voegtle, Leader of the Oak Ridge office at Burns & McDonnell. “We look forward to building a strong team with robust talent and capabilities to continue to deliver state-of-the-art facilities, infrastructure, and other solutions for some of our country's most critical needs.”
