Willits Joins HNTB as Project Director
SANTA ANA, CA — Shannon Willits, PE, joins HNTB Corporation as Project Director, based in the firm's Santa Ana office. His duties will include management, planning, design, and construction of major highways and local roadways in Southern California.
“We are looking forward to Shannon's leadership of our large, multidisciplinary project teams for HNTB,” said Wayne Feuerborn, HNTB West Division President. “His experience with Caltrans' procedures makes him a unique asset to our regional projects and future pursuits.”
Willits brings 30 years of experience in highway and local roadway project development and construction and has advanced and delivered numerous projects for state and local agencies. He has led design-build and design-bid-build project teams and has worked with agencies and project stakeholders at all levels to secure approvals.
Prior to joining HNTB, Willits served as the Engineering Manager for the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority's $6.5B I-710 South Corridor project, developing a truck expressway and corridor alternatives based on stakeholder feedback. He was also the Design Manager and Roadway Engineer-of-Record responsible for the $450-million 12-mile widening and reconstruction of SR-22 in Orange County.
Willits received a bachelor's degree in civil engineering and a master's degree in business from University of California, Irvine. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of California.
