Wolverine Building Group Expands Team with Addition of Seven New Employees

GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Wolverine Building Group announces the addition of seven new team members. Cliff Kilboy joins the team as a Senior Project Manager, David de Velder and John Lafrinere as Project Managers, Timothy Thome as Preconstruction Manager and Mitchell Japowicz, Lee Purches and Timothy Clogg as Superintendents.
Kilboy has over 30 years of experience in the construction industry having served in various project management and consulting roles. Prior to joining Wolverine, he served as a Project Director at a general contractor where he oversaw multiple large-scale projects. He specializes in higher education, commercial office, multi-unit residential, health care, sports facilities, government and historical projects and will work in the Multi-Family division. Kilboy holds a bachelor’s degree in construction engineering and management technology from Purdue University and is a certified LEED Green Associate by the United States Green Building Council.
de Velder has 20 years of experience in the real estate development and construction industries. Prior to joining Wolverine, he served at the Director of Development at the Kent County Land Bank Authority/InnovaLaB where he directed real estate development including the acquisition, assessment, development, renovation and resale of 800 tax foreclosed, bank foreclosed and distressed properties. He is proficient at managing the construction of multi-unit residential properties and will work in the Multi-Family division. de Velder holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies from Western Michigan University and maintains his State of Michigan Realtor’s License.
Lafrinere has five years of experience in the construction industry. Prior to joining Wolverine, he worked as a Project Manager at Kerkstra Precast. He will work in the Multi-Family division, and he holds a bachelor’s degree in construction management and building construction technology from Ferris State University.
Thome has over 37 years of experience in the construction industry, specifically in pre-construction/estimating roles. Prior to joining Wolverine, he served as a Project Planning Leader at a general contractor where he was responsible for planning/estimating projects between $2.5 million and $150 million. He is skilled at estimating in the construction management, design-build and hard bid delivery methods. He holds a bachelor’s degree in construction from the University of Michigan.
Japowicz, Purches and Clogg have over 75 years of combined experience in the construction industry. Each will be responsible for performing daily jobsite supervision and management responsibilities ensuring projects are completed safely and in accordance with the plans and specifications.
