TAMPA, FL — Gresham Smith announces that Ray Wong, AIA, MBA, EDAC, LEED Green Associate, a Senior Architect in the firm’s Tampa healthcare studio, has been selected as a member of the American Institute of Architects Florida Chapter’s 2019 Class of Citizen Architects. The annual award honors local architects who have helped shape their communities though service and civic engagement. Ray was recognized during Legislative Day in Tallahassee, Florida.

“Congratulations to Ray on this well-deserved recognition. He is an exceptional role model and truly embodies Gresham Smith’s promise of genuine ingenuity,” said Al Pramuk, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Gresham Smith. “Whether he’s designing smart solutions that help improve the health of communities, advocating for Tampa’s minority communities or teaching students about careers in architecture, Ray uses his talents to benefit others. His commitment to his clients and community is inspiring and serves as an example for us all.”

Wong joined Gresham Smith in 2004 and has 15 years of experience delivering research-based, value-added solutions for health systems, care providers and patients. His community involvement extends beyond the AIA; Ray also serves on the Hillsborough County Community Action Board, the City of Tampa’s Community Advisory Committee for the Downtown Urban Core, the Advisory Committee for the Florida Center for Community Design and Research at USF and the City of Tampa Mayor’s Hispanic Advisory Council.

As the Community Engagement Leader for Gresham Smith’s Tampa office, he also coordinates the office’s outreach activities and helps grow the firm’s local presence. Wong is a graduate of the Tampa Bay Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Tampa program and, along with his cohorts, helps raise funds for at-need organizations throughout the Tampa Bay region.
