Yamamoto and Brumskine Join CALYX Engineers + Consultants
CARY, NC — CALYX Engineers and Consultants announces that Brian Yamamoto, PE, has joined their transportation planning team as Senior Project Development Engineer and Walta Brumskine, PE, has joined the Transportation Design Group as Project Manager in their Charlotte, North Carolina, office.
In his role as Senior Project Development Engineer, Yamamoto will manage transportation projects through preliminary design, including the oversight and preparation of complex environmental documents.
“We are so excited that Brian has joined the CALYX planning team,” said Liz Kovasckitz, AICP, Principal and Planning Program Manager. “Brian’s knowledge of NEPA compliance and experience with project management and public outreach is extensive. We couldn’t be happier to have him here.”
Yamamoto comes to CALYX from the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT), where he spent 28 years overseeing the preparation of NEPA/SEPA documentation for transportation projects, serving as a group leader in the Project Development and Environmental Analysis Unit, and most recently held the position of project manager for the Central Project Delivery Team. During his time at NCDOT, Yamamoto oversaw the development of hundreds of transportation projects, including the Bonner Bridge Replacement in Dare County, the Greenville Southwest Bypass in Pitt County, the Mid-Currituck Bridge in Currituck County, and Complete 540 in the Raleigh area.
Yamamoto is a Cary, North Carolina native, living in Cary with his wife, Pope. In his spare time, he can be found playing guitar in the local Triangle band, Ghosts of the Old North State.
Walta Brumskine, PE, has joined CALYX Engineers and Consultants’ Transportation Design Group as Project Manager. With over 12 years of experience, Brumskine is well-versed in all aspects of transportation design.
“Walta is extremely hard working and motivated, and she fits in seamlessly with our team,” said Michael Holt, PE, Transportation Design Group Manager. “We are committed to providing the best service to our clients and she is an excellent addition to CALYX.”
She received her Master in Transportation and Bachelors in Civil Engineering from the University of Tennessee, where she won the Shirley Garside Award for Excellence. In addition, she holds an A.A.S. in Building and Urban Planning from the Institut National Felix Houphouet Boigny de Yamoussoukro.
Originally from Liberia, West Africa, Brumskine is passionate about helping to rebuild the country’s infrastructure. This month, she will be presenting at The Extraordinary Women’s Conference 2018 in France on the theme of “Working as a Professional Woman in a Male-Dominated Profession.”
When not working, she enjoys the outdoors and being a mom to two boys.
