WDG Announces Six Promotions

WASHINGTON, DC  WDG announces six promotions in its Washington, D.C. office, each representing the continued growth and evolution of its practice. This year marks the firm's 78th year as a national design leader within architecture, planning, and interiors, with offices in Washington, D.C. and Dallas, Texas.

Associates

Tamara Hopkins, AIA, joined WDG in 2005. Her educationwith degrees in architecture and construction engineering and managementcombined with her 16 years of industry experience, has significantly added to the firm's success. Her ability to incorporate and enhance a client's program, work within a variety of project delivery methods, communicate effectively within complex project teams, and maintain the project schedule, have made her an invaluable asset to WDG. Her portfolio of projects includes government, office, mixed-use, and multifamily residential. Hopkins was the Project Architect on the award- winning D.C.-based 1.2-million-square-foot U.S. Coast Guard headquarters, completed in 2013, and is currently serving as Project Architect on the Squash on Fire mixed-use redevelopment in D.C.'s west end.

Tom Zych, AIA, first joined WDG in 2005, and, after a brief sabbatical, returned to the firm earlier this year. Zych has been a team leader for several of WDG's award winning competitionsfrom New York City, New York, to Tokyo, Japan. He is an exceptional designer with a passion for urban environments and their challenges, and has focused on an array of multifamily residential projects. His dedicated, thoughtful approach supports the needs of owners and community stakeholders alike. Zych is an active member of the ULI Young Leaders program, and is currently working on the design for a variety of mixed-use planning developments in Tysons Corner, Virginia.

Mark Gosnell, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, started in the industry in 2000, and earned his Master of Urban Design degree from Washington University in 2004. He first joined WDG in 2005; since returning in 2013, he has been with the firm for a total of five years. Gosnell, with expertise in mixed-use planning, design and construction administration,participates in all phases of project delivery. He served as the Project Architect on the recently completed Hyatt Place DC Capitol Mall in Washington, D.C., and is currently the Project Architect on Pentagon Centrea three-phase, 1.8-million-square-foot master planning site in Arlington, Virginia.

William Whitenhill, AIA, IIDA, NCARB, brought nearly 40 years of experience to WDG when joining the firm's interiors group in 2008. He serves as the Director of Quality Assurance and Senior Project Manager. Whitenhill is a registered architect with licenses in four states and Washington, D.C., and is also LEED AP and NCIDQ registered. Whitenhill's extensive and diversified background in project design, management, and technical coordination is instrumental to the success of WDG Interiors' work. He recently completed a large, complex interior architecture project for the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency, and is currently leading the National Science Foundation Headquarters design team.

Ricardo Rodríguez, Associate AIA, LEED AP, joined WDG's interiors group in 2012, with eight years of experience. He served as the 2015 Chair of the AIA|DC's Emerging Architects Committee, and recently received the Emerging Architect Award for his exceptional leadership and contributions to the profession at an early stage of his career. Rodríguez is the Project Manager on the renovation of the Rotonda Condominiums in Tysons Corner, Virginia, as well as the Project Manager for the Sushi Zen restaurant in midtown Manhattan, New York.

Director, Marketing and Communications

Jennifer Trezza is a proven leader with the entrepreneurial spirit necessary to define WDG's strategic marketing plan and guide the team's direction. Her diversified background in creative and brand management provides the foundation for her efforts in streamlining a cohesive marketing vision for the firm. She brought nine years of experience, including graphic design and editorial art direction, to WDG when joining in 2010. Trezza is an active member of the Society for Marketing Professional Services, and has received recognition by the D.C. Chapter for her contributions to their PR and Communications Committee.
