O’Dea Joins HNTB as Group Director–Engineering

LAKE MARY, FL — Frank O’Dea, PE, joins HNTB Corporation as Group Director–Engineering and Vice President, based in the firm’s Lake Mary, Florida, office. His responsibilities include oversight of all activities of the local engineering group, including quality, marketing and group productivity.
O’Dea was with the Florida Department of Transportation for 30 years. Most recently, he served FDOT District 5 as director of transportation development, overseeing a work program of more than $1 billion annually with a staff of more than 200. He directed planning and environmental services, modal development, design, right-of-way and program management for nine Central Florida counties in District 5.
“Frank has a deep knowledge and understanding of Central Florida’s transportation needs and challenges, making him a crucial resource to HNTB’s clients who are working to improve the state’s multimodal travel options,” said George Gilhooley, PE, East Florida Office Leader and Senior Vice President.
In his most recent role with FDOT, O’Dea served as lead District 5 executive for the I-4 Ultimate Improvement Project and oversaw development of a plan to extend I-4 managed lanes by 38 miles from Polk County to Volusia County. His additional roles with FDOT included district construction engineer, resident engineer, and consultant construction engineering inspection and claims engineer.
O’Dea earned a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
