BURLINGTON, MA Erland Construction has received two national awards, recognizing the company's dedication to high-quality safety standards.

Erland's safety record was acclaimed by the Associated General Contractors of America, who awarded the company the national Certificate of Commendation for Excellent Safety Record. This honor recognizes Erland's zero incidence rate as well as the accomplishment of sitting 25 percent below the national average of lost work on construction sites.

"Safety is a top priority for all of us at Erland, starting from the top down.  Each one of our employees, whether out in the field or in the office, along with our subcontractors, receives the same foundation of safety training.  On top of that foundation, we give our employees another 3.5 hours of safety training," said Laurie Webber, Erland's Assistant Director of Safety.  "By ensuring everyone has the same foundation of safety knowledge, our safety protocol is seamless and efficient, an achievement that makes us all extremely proud."

Additionally, Erland received the Safety Training Evaluation Process (STEP) platinum award from The Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc.  This is the company's fifth year achieving platinum recognition, which applauds Erland for developing, maintaining and expanding a high-level safety program.

Internally, Erland's company safety committee consists of employees from the field, office and management.  This committee makes surprise visits at job sites to provide recommendations to the project superintendent for continued support and improvement.

"If you want to know more about our culture, safety is a large component of it.  Our committee is dedicated to constantly seeking ways to grow our safety initiatives," said Tom Blesso, Senior Vice President, Key Account Coordinator.  "Since members can only sit on the committee for three years, fresh ideas are always contributed to this important facet of our company."
