MAYNARD, MA JM Coull (JMC), along with Cambridge Seven Associates and Lemon|Brooke Landscape Architects, has begun construction on the second and final phase of The Discovery Museums' campus master plan. The firm is moving indoors from phase one, Discovery Woods, to completely transform the existing Science Discovery Museum building, providing much-needed square footage for new and current exhibits. These new spaces support the museum's commitment to authentic, hands-on learning through play by focusing on:
"¢ Early brain development
"¢ Inventing/tinkering
"¢ Math
"¢ Water & Air
Phase 2 is scheduled for completion in December 2017. During construction, the Children's Discovery Museum and Discovery Woods will remain open to visitors.
"It's hard to believe this project will be done at the end of the year," said Project Manager Heather Waice. "We started in 2015, and last summer saw the completion of Discovery Woods, which is a fantastic outdoor space that accomplishes the museum's goal of getting kids outside to play. Now, we're focusing on the Science Discovery Museum, and we're really excited to see the transformation of this popular building over the next few months."
