SEATTLE, WA BGIS announces that it has been named as a 2018 Military Friendly® Employer by Victory Media. BGIS was designated as a Military Friendly® Employer in the category of Real Estate under $500 million.

The Military Friendly ratings program was started in 2003 by Victory Media as an advocacy vehicle to encourage civilian organizations to invest in programs to recruit, retain and advance veterans as employees, entrepreneurs and students. By providing a benchmark to aim for and through the posting of a "˜score', this program has encouraged civilian organizations to recruit veterans into their workforce.

"BGIS is very proud to have been named as one of 2018's Military Friendly Employers and we are even prouder to support our veterans. The skill that comes out of the military fits extremely well in our critical environments business, and our client retention and satisfaction rates are directly attributable to these team members," said Brian Fellows, President, U.S. Operations, BGIS.

The Military Friendly® company survey investigates and identifies the organizations who are committed to serving the military and veteran community, and is comprehensive in scope and meaningful in terms of actual outcomes and impact. The data that is evaluated to determine Military Friendly® designations and awards are sourced from three categories: public data sources, proprietary survey data and personal data from surveys of veterans themselves.

"In 2016, BGIS acquired McKinstry FMS and created one of the largest data center and critical environment facility management companies in North America, managing highly critical real estate operations for some of the world's leading technology companies, financial institutions and government agencies. These types of intense work environments require specialized skill and people with laser-sharp focus and a strict adherence to procedural details. Over 23 per cent of BGIS's US workforce is made up of veterans. It's a natural fit, and we're beyond grateful to be able to hire these skilled individuals," said Gord Hicks, Chief Executive Officer, BGIS.

"It's important for people who have sacrificed for a greater good to come out knowing they're highly valued and well paid when they reach us. In fact, the application for this distinction was led by BGIS Talent Acquisition Manager Scott Haas, a former U.S. Marine himself, which further demonstrates our level of commitment to recruiting from the veteran community. This commitment will remain a key part of the BGIS way of doing business," said Fellows.
