AWWA Announces Two CH2M Employees as Winners of Rocky Mountain Section Awards
DENVER, CO Each year, the Rocky Mountain Section of the American Water Works Association (RMSAWWA) recognizes outstanding contributors to the water industry. This year, two CH2M employees brought home honors for their achievements in water-facility maintenance and water conservation.
RMSAWWA's Alice Darilek Award, honors water-industry professionals in the region for excellence in conservation. In 2016, the winner is Lynn Kronowit, an Administrative Assistant in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. The award is named in honor of Alice Darilek, whose dedicated work in New Mexico helped shape water conservation efforts.
CH2M Maintenance Mechanic Phil Chavez received the Water Treatment Plant Maintenance Award, which recognizes an outstanding professional for exceptional performance, dedication and teamwork in the maintenance field.
Lynn Kronowit wears many hats and although her title is Administrative Assistant in the Water Production Department, a more suitable title would be Sustainability and Community Champion. She enthusiastically and voluntarily dedicates much of her time to leading and encouraging sustainability efforts at all CH2M projects in New Mexico.
"This recognition is a well-deserved reflection of Lynn's tireless efforts," said CH2M Regional Manager David Sohns. "I can't thank her enough for everything she does in support of sustainability in our region, this award is just a small tip of the hat to her."
In addition to maintaining Rio Rancho's water facilities, Phil Chavez sustains a positive, upbeat attitude, and it shows - not only to his fellow employees, but also to the many customers he serves regularly. Whether it is 2 o'clock in the afternoon or 10 p.m., Chavez is eager to volunteer his time and knowledge to fix whatever problem might arise, especially if it means keeping a customer supplied with safe water.
"Phil's dedication doesn't stop at work," Sohns said. "He is a major supporter of our community-involvement programs. He can be counted on to distribute food and non-perishables to local shelters. He also contributes his own money, and more than a little hard labor to purchase items, load them onto a truck, and distribute them to people in need in the community. His work ethic is something to be admired and he takes pride in always representing CH2M positively."
