Jones Named San Angelo District Engineer

AUSTIN, TX Mark Jones, P.E., is the District Engineer for the Texas Department of Transportation' (TxDOT) San Angelo District.
The district comprises 15 counties: Coke, Concho, Crockett, Edwards, Glasscock, Irion, Kimble, Menard, Reagan, Real, Runnels, Schleicher, Sterling, Sutton and Tom Green.
Jones has devoted over 25 years to transportation engineering in the public and private sectors. His TxDOT career began in 1992 in the Construction Division. Jones transferred to the Austin District in 1996.
Jones left TxDOT in 1999 to work in the private sector where he assisted in the accelerated planning and development of over 24 miles of toll roads through central Texas.
In 2004, Jones rejoined TxDOT as the Georgetown Assistant Area Engineer and later as Area Engineer, managing the first pass-through toll program in Williamson County. He became director of construction for the Waco District in 2015.
Jones earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from New Mexico State University.
