Texas Water Development Board Approves Financial Assistance Totaling $23.5M for Water and Wastewater System Projects

AUSTIN, TX The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) approves financial assistance totaling $23,498,509 for water and wastewater systems. Of this funding, $11,602,732 was designated for rural projects.Â
$1,188,072 to the City of Gordon for water system improvements
The TWDB approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $1,188,072, consisting of a $460,000 loan and $728,072 in loan forgiveness, from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund to the city of Gordon, Texas, (Palo Pinto County). The assistance will finance planning, design, and construction costs associated with water system improvements.
The financial assistance could save the city approximately $80,000 throughout the life of the loan, in addition to the loan forgiveness. The city will use the assistance to replace water meters and more than 10,000 linear feet of pipeline. The improvements will help reduce water loss within the city's water system.
$2,815,000 to the Central Washington County Water Supply Corporation for water system improvements
The TWDB approved financial assistance in the amount of $2,815,000 from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund to the Central Washington County Water Supply Corporation (Washington County). The Corporation will use the assistance to finance planning, acquisition, design, and construction costs associated with water system improvements.
The Corporation could save approximately $470,000 over the life of the loan by using the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund. They will be able to construct a new water supply well and connect it to the Corporation's two existing water treatment locations.
$7,599,660 to the city of Eastland for wastewater system improvements
The TWDB approved financial assistance in the amount of $7,599,660, consisting of a $6,765,000 loan and $834,660 in loan forgiveness, from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund to the city of Eastland, Texas, (Eastland County). The city will use the assistance to finance wastewater system improvements.
The financial assistance could save the city approximately $936,000 over the life of the loan, in addition to the loan forgiveness. With the assistance, the city will be able to finance the planning, design, and construction costs associated with wastewater system improvements. The city plans to also implement treatment improvements so that reclaimed water can continue to replace potable water for irrigation.
$11,895,777 to the city of Arlington for water system improvements
The TWDB approved by resolution financial assistance in the amount of $11,895,777, consisting of a $11,445,000 loan and $450,777 in loan forgiveness, from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund to the city of Arlington, Texas, (Tarrant County). The city will use the assistance to finance water system improvements.
The financial assistance could save the city approximately $1 million over the life of the loan, in addition to the loan forgiveness. The City will be able to finance the planning, design, and construction costs associated with electrical system improvements at its water treatment plant.
