San Antonio's $150M Essex Modern City
SAN, ANTONIO, TX Essex Modern City will set a new standard for mixed-use development in San Antonio, Texas, reinventing urban infill development, by referencing the historical patterns of San Antonio as a Spanish colonial city while embracing new technology's impact on the urban environment.
There will one a large central plaza with extensive green space throughout as a place for events and exhibits for residents and visitors. Vertical urban farms will grow produce that may be utilized by restaurants on the property, purchased by residents/visitors, or marketed as a revenue source to those managing it.
The conceptual design of Essex Modern City is created around the symbiotic passions of new technology and history of Texas. Since its humbled days in the late 1970's and early 1980's when Texas experienced a prolonged and devastating recession due to over dependence on energy and real estate industries, Texas has transformed it's business matrix into a widely diversified economic state. Now complimenting oil and real estate industries are leading companies that including cyber security (24th Air Force), technology (Rackspace, Microsoft), medical centers (Ft. Sam Houston), and insurance (USAA).
The economic growth in Texas has resulted in a population expansion of people representing the New Millenniums and Gen X & Y generations that have contributed to vibrant economic growth and diversification.
