TxDOT Completes Second Mobility35 Project

Officials with the Texas Department of Transportation join Hays County Commissioners Debbie Gonzales Ingalsbe, Ray Whisenant, Mark Jones and Lon Shell and others as they ceremoniously cut the ribbon for the completion of the I-35 from RM 150 and the Blanco River.
HAYS COUNTY, TX The Texas Department of Transportation joined Hays County Commissioners Debbie Gonzales Ingalsbe, Ray Whisenant, Mark Jones and Lon Shell to cut the ribbon on the ramp reversal project for I-35 between RM 150 and the Blanco River. This is the second project to be completed under the Mobility35 Program.Â
"In 2011, our community came together to develop the Mobility35 Program to improve mobility along I-35 through Williamson, Travis and Hays counties," TxDOT Austin District Engineer Terry McCoy said. "With the support of our transportation partners in Hays County, we were able to complete this project that does just that."Â
The project included adding one new ramp and modifying five existing ramps between RM 150 and the Blanco River. Work on the $9 million project began in April of 2016 and was completed on time and on budget.Â
"Hays County took the initiative to address the I-35 ramp configuration deficiencies from RM 150 to the Blanco River," Precinct 1 Commissioner Debbie Gonzales Ingalsbe said. "In 2013 we entered into an Advance Funding Agreement with TxDOT to cost-share these projects and related ones that converted our two-way frontage roads to one-way. Partnerships and innovation in funding and construction have improved Hays County's road infrastructure to enhance safety, mobility and economic development opportunities, and we truly appreciate our working relationship with all involved."Â
The Mobility35 Program is comprised of stand-alone projects that provide location-specific benefits, as well as comprehensive projects that add express lanes and improve ramps, frontage roads, and intersections along 79 miles of I-35. Six additional projects are currently under construction. To learn more about the I-35 from RM 150 to Blanco River project or other projects on I-35, visit My35.org.Â
The contractor for the project was Angel Brothers Enterprises.
