Knutson's 610 and Noble Parkway Park and Ride Selected for Finance and Commerce Top Projects
MINNEAPOLIS, MN Knutson Construction Services' 610 and Noble Parkway Park and Ride has been selected as one of the 26 Top Projects of 2014 being highlighted by Finance and Commerce. The criteria for the award included green and sustainable aspects of the project and overall design and construction of new or remodeled facilities in Minnesota.
The facility accommodates bus operations, driver's facilities, and passenger waiting facilities, as well as bike and pedestrian amenities. The ramp is 210,819 square feet with a 518-stall parking ramp and a 468-stall surface lot. The sides of the ramp are clad with a faceted, white architectural precast concrete panel in horizontal strips across the floor lines. At some locations the sides of the ramp are "in filled" with black architectural precast. The south elevation of the ramp consists of a four-tiered solar array with a capacity of 40 kilowatts. The harvested energy is used to power the facilities LED parking lot lighting as well as serving the other electrical needs of the facility. The solar array is mounted on aluminum rails that are fastened to the ramp's cast in place structure. In addition, the ramp is equipped with electrical car charging stations.
"It is an honor to be recognized by Finance and Commerce as having built one of only 26 outstanding projects in Minnesota for our community," said Dave Bastyr, Knutson Construction Services Executive Vice President of Minnesota Operations.
The series will feature a Top Project twice weekly on Wednesdays and Fridays in Finance and Commerce. An awards presentation for all top projects will take place at the Muse Event Center in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota.
